Abstract:
PURPOSE: To adsorb the residual gas and the gas generated during the operation and extend the life of an electron tube by forming the thin film of a material chemically activated at the room temperature or higher on the surface of an electrode.
CONSTITUTION: An image display tube is constituted of a linear cathode 1, an insulating spacer 2, a G1 electrode 3, and a back electrode 4. A getter film 5 is provided on the G1 electrode 3 before the assembling. For the getter film 5, a metal deposition film of Zr 84%-Al 16% or the like is used. The image display tube is heated to 350°C during the baking process after the assembling process, and the getter film 5 is activated and applied with the adsorption capability.
