PURPOSE: To obtain a glass product such as a milk or colored glass product by applying the liq. hydrolyzate of an org. silicate to a glass substrate, forming a low m.p. glass composition layer on the applied layer, and carrying out calcination.
CONSTITUTION: To an org. silicate such as ethyl silicate or methyl silicate are added ethanol or methanol and water, and dil. hydrochloric acid is further added to hydrolyze the silicate at ≤3pH. The resulting liq. hydrolyzate is applied to a glass substrate, and a low m.p. glass composition layer is formed on the applied layer. Slip prepared by dispersing finely pulverized low m.p. milk or colored glass in a solvent is used as the low m.p. glass composition. Ordinary calcination is then carried out at about 550W660°C.
