PURPOSE: To elevate durability of a titled hammer, by quenching a nail pulling part separately from a hit surface side part, setting it to specified hardness by the first tempering treatment, subsequently, locally heating the part between the groove bottom of a nail pulling V-groove and the handle hole side, setting the groove bottom part to specified hardness, and tempering it so as to drop gradually to the handle hole side.
CONSTITUTION: A nail pulling part 1 is heated by high frequency and is quenched by oil cooling, subsequently, the first tempering for heating it by an air heating furnace for about 1hr and cooling it is performed, and hardness HRC50 ±2 is given to the nail pulling part 1. Subsequently, prescribed quenching and tempering are performed to a hit part 2. Thereafter, the second tempering for locally heating the part W between the vicinity of a V-groove bottom 4 and a handle hole 3 side by high frequency heating and cooling it is performed. By this tempering, hardness is set to HRC 35W45 in the vicinity of the V-groove bottom 4, and is set to ≤HRC20 in the handle hole 3 side by dropping it gradually from said position.
