To improve a close fitness between heat exchanging pipes and plate- like fins of a heat exchanger and enable its assembling operation to be easily carried out.
When a heat exchanger having a plurality of plate-like fins 1 properly spaced apart and arranged to each other and also having a plurality of flat heat exchanging pipes 3 penetrating to cross with these plate-like fins 1 is manufactured, an insertion groove 2 gradually narrowed from one side of each of the plate-like fins 1 toward their inner sides is formed, wherein a sectional shape of each of the flat heat exchanging pipes 3 is formed into such a tapered one or a flat shape which can be fitted to a narrow part 2b of the insertion groove 2 and a narrow part 3b of the flat heat exchanging pipe 3 is inserted at an opened and expanded part 2a of the insertion groove 2. After this operation, the plate-like fins 1 and the flat heat exchanging pipes 3 are moved in respect to each other and the flat heat exchanging pipes 3 are closely fitted to the narrow part 2b of the insertion groove 2.
