PURPOSE: To obtain a heat-shrinkable pipe with tapered peripheral surface by a method wherein a wound-around layer consisting in lap-winding a crosslinked synthetic resin tape onto a tape made of a synthetic resin with high adhesion property is fusion-bonded by heating into an integral body on the slant surface of a mandrel.
CONSTITUTION: A tape consisting of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) containing 20W30wt% of vinyl acetate is employed as a synthetic resin with high adhesion property. One layer of an EVA tape is wound around onto the tapered surface of a mandrel 3 tapered along its side peripheral surface with an overlap of about 1/2 of its width. One wound-around layer of crosslinked polyethylene resin tape, which has been stretched by 200W300% in its longitudinal direction in advance, is arranged onto the above-mentioned EVA wound-around layer 4. After that, the wound-around layers 4 and 5 are placed in a constant temperature bath held at 130W200°C in order to be integrally fusion-bonded and then taken out of the constant temperature bath in order to be cooled down to the room temperature. After being cooled down, an integrally formed pipe 6 is taken off from the mandrel 3. The resultant pipe is adhered onto the insulator of cable or the like by heat-shrinking, resulting in forming a coating with high watertightness.
