Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a satisfactory dephosphorizing effect when a high carbon steel is refined by blowing in a top and bottom blowing converter, by using a specified slag forming agent.
CONSTITUTION: When a high carbon steel is refined by blowing in a top and bottom blowing converter, cement clinker or slag formed in an electric arc furnace in a reduction stage is substituted for part of lime. Thus, a high-carbon low-phosphorus steel can be manufactured by top and bottom blowing independently of the flow rate of oxygen to be fed, the kind of gas to be blown from the bottom, the flow rate of the gas, the basicity of slag, the molten iron ratio, etc.
