PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of connecting plate lugs and an electrode pole made of a lead-calcium system alloy together and increase the close contact of the joint section by fusing the lugs and the electrode pole together by supplying molten pure lead over the top surfaces of the lugs.

CONSTITUTION: After plate lugs 2 and an electrode pole 3 made of a lead-calcium-system alloy are placed in a metallic mold 1, the lugs 2 and the electrode pole 3 are fused together while melting a welding lead supply 4 consisting of pure lead by means of a burner 5 and supplying the molten lead over the top surfaces of the lugs 2. By thus using pure lead and not a lead-calcium alloy as the lead supply 4, an oxide film is hardly formed and it is possible to increase the fusing efficiency due to the high melting point of pure lead. Moreover, the thus formed strap consists of a mixture of the lead-calcium alloy and pure lead and has flexibility, thereby preventing any cracks from being developed in the strap. Accordingly, it is possible to widely improve the reliability of the lead storage battery.
