PURPOSE: To prevent generation of defects by using a pressing bar the end flat surface of which is provided with concaves and convexes of arbitrary form in pressing and affixing a thin lithium-metal plate to the inner surface of a metallic sealing plate so as to increase the fixing intensity of said lithium plate.
CONSTITUTION: A lithium battery is constituted by the combination of a metallic case 1 also serving as a positive terminal, a metallic sealing plate 2 also serving as a negative terminal, a gasket 3 made of polypropylene or the like, a positive electrode containing manganese dioxide as an active material, a negative lithium metal 5 and a separator 6 impregnated with nonaqueous electrolyte. In constituting such a battery, the disk-like lithium 5 is pressed and affixed to the inner surface of the plate 2 to which the gasket 3 is attached, by means of a pressing bar 7 the end flat surface of which is provided with many dot-like projections 8 or many concentric grooves. As a result, the fixing intensity of the lithium 5 to the sealing plate 2 is increased, thereby enabling any defective fixing and separation of the lithium 5 to be securely prevented.
