PURPOSE: To obtain a transparent luminescent article excellent in abrasion resistance and the like by dispersing phosphor particles in a soln. of a specific binder, coating the dispersion on a support, removing a solvent and then curing the binder under the action of moisture.
CONSTITUTION: A moisture-hardening binder composition contg. 0.25 to 10 acid anhydride moiety with respect to each blocked amino group is prepd. by mixing (A) 30 to 99 pts.wt. of a copolymer which comprises 3 to 25 wt.% of meleic anhydride and 97 to 75 wt.% of a copolymerizable monomer selected from formulas I, II and III (wherein R1 and R4 are each 1-18C hydrocarbon; R2 is H, methyl or the like; R3 is 6-12C aromatic hydrocarbon, or the like and an acid anhydride equivalent of which is 393 to 9,800 with (B) 70 to 1 pts.wt. of an organic substance contg. blocked amino groups. Then, the binder composition is dispersed in a solvent and phosphor particles are dispersed in the resultant soln. A luminescent article incorporating a phosphor-contg. element is prepd. by coating the dispersion on a support, removing the solvent by evaporation and then curing the binder under the action of moisture.
