PURPOSE: To obtain rare earth - iron - boron nitrogen group magnet materials whose magnetic impurity phase is minimum and provide magnets made of said materials by carrying out low temperature heat treatment of the rare earth - iron - boron group magnet materials in a high pressure atmosphere containing nitrogen atoms.
CONSTITUTION: A composition is manufactured based on a general equation ReaT100-a-bBb (Re stands for rare earth element including Y while T stands for a transition metal element whose Fe is replaced by either Co, Ni or both). Heat treatment is carried out at a temperature of 500°C and lower in an atmosphere where gaseous bodies including a specific amount of nitrogen atoms are mixed with reduction substances. This construction makes it possible to inhibit the generation of a magnetic impurity phase and diffuse a sufficient amount of nitrogen which can enhance the magnetic properties and obtain magnet materials having excellent magnetic properties and magnets as well.
