PURPOSE: To provide a manufacturing method for a metal halide lamp which has a stable properly while reducing radio activity of a radiation source.
CONSTITUTION: A sealed radiation source 3, in which 147Pm of 5 kBq is chemically adsorbed to a base body made of alumina consisting of Si, Mg, and Ba and is covered with the same alumina with the base body, is added in the inside of a quartz glass arc tube 1 provided with an electrode, and then the arc tube 1, whose inside is made into an atmosphere of Ar, is heated by a burner 4. The sealed radiation source 3 is fused to be fixed on the center part inner wall of the arc tube 1 as a radiation source 3a in a broken sealing condition, and then, the predetermined amount of metal iodide 5, Ar, and mercury are sealed in, sp as to complete a metal halide lamp arc tube.
