Title:
MANUFACTURE OF METALLIC MATRIX-FIBER COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61257439
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a composite material having good adhesion between metallic matrix and fiber by subjecting plural fibers coated with a metal to be a matrix to pressure forming by heating and then to cooling with pressurizing by use of rolls for cooling.

CONSTITUTION: The plural fibers 1 coated with the metal to be a matrix is subjected to continuous pressure forming by use of rolls 3 for forming heated to a compounding temp. Succeedingly, a formed body 5 discharged from the rolls 3 for forming is cooled to the compounding temp. or below while being pressurized by use of rolls 4 for cooling. Further, C, SiC, Al2O3 or W fiber is used as the fiber and copper is used as the matrix metal. In this way, products having sound composite structure can be obtained without causing exfoliation between the matrix and fiber as well as cracking in the matrix.
