PURPOSE: To obtain the above modified lumber with an excellent root proof property, insect proof property, dimensional stability and flame resistance by cutting a live tree at its root and immersing it in cation contained treatment liquid and anion contained treatment liquid from the side of the root.
CONSTITUTION: A raw material lumber is obtained in cutting a live tree at its root and from the root side of the earth surface part 10, cation contained treatment liquid and anion contained treatment liquid are immersed respectively thereinto in order to make them permeate and infiltrate into the lumber struc ture successively. Otherwise, after immersing it into the treatment liquid from the root side, it is preferable that the raw material is lumbered and immersed again. Furthermore, it is preferable that, after reacting with carbon dioxide and immersing cation contained treatment liquid generating insoluble incombus tible inorganic substances (carbonate) into the raw material lumber, it is reacted with carbon dioxide so as to generate and fix the inorganic substances into the lumber texture. In this case, it is preferred to employ Ba, Ca, Mg, Sr, Co, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn, Cu and the like as cation, and also preferred to employ BO2, PO4, CO2, SO4 and OH as anion.
