PURPOSE: To provide a multiple-cored superconductor of a high critical current density (Jc), a high critical current (Ic), and excellent antiquenching property by forming multiple lines of superconductor in a matrix of extendable material, and subjecting them to a specified heat treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Multiple grooves 2 formed in the longitudinal direction of a base body 1 are filled with superconductor 3 or its precursor. The base body 1 is wound so that its winding axis is at 45° relative to the groove. The wound body is processed to extend in its axial direction. As a result, the extended product comprises a matrix of the base body and fine-diametered continuous superconductor 3 or its precursor arranged in the longitudinal direction. The extended product is then subjected to a specified heat treatment. This provides efficiently a multiple-cored superconductor of a high critical current density (Jc), a high critical current (Ic), and excellent anti-quenching property.
