Abstract:
PURPOSE: To manufacture an Nb3Sn superconducting wire for AC use which has a high resistance matrix and a reduced AC loss.
CONSTITUTION: Zn plating is applied to a composite wire prepared by putting an Nb core in composite structure on a matrix of Cu-Sn alloy, and the resultant is subjected to a 350°C heat treatment for 100hr, and the Zn is dispersed in the matrix in the form of solid solution so that the resistance of the matrix is increased, and then a 550°C heat treatment is performed for 100hr. Thereby the Sn and Nb are reacted together so that Nb3Sn is produced.
