Title:
MANUFACTURE OF OPTICAL ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3689586
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically reduce grinding and polishing allowances by centering a lens before polishing optical function faces.
SOLUTION: Both faces of a lens material 105, preferably the circumferential parts avoiding a region to be optical function faces of the lens, are sandwiched by centering holders 201, 202 to center and while the lens material 105 is rotated with its clamped between the holders 202, a rotating grinding wheel 203 is made to approach to the outer circumference to grind the outer circumference of the lens material 105. This constitution enables to provide the lens material having its outer circumference worked into prescribed diameter and edge shapes and centered. The thicknesses of the edges of the lens material after the centering grind are almost uniform and consequently the core of the lens material can be centered relatively highly precisely. Then, the both sides of the lens material are polished.
