This organic EL element is provided with a substrate 1 formed with an organic EL structure 11 on the surface, an adhesive layer 3 surrounding the organic EL structure 11 and a sealing plate 2 stuck to the substrate 1 by the adhesive layer 3 and facing the organic EL structure 11 with a void, and the organic EL structure 11 exists in the sealing space 4 formed with the substrate 1, adhesive layer 3 and sealing plate 2. This manufacturing method has a preliminary pressurization process that the sealing plate 2 and the substrate 1 are closely stuck together via the adhesive layer 3 made of an ultraviolet hardening adhesive to form the sealing space 4 and a pressurizing/hardening process that the ambient pressure is increased higher than the pressure in the sealing space 4 to closely stick the sealing plate 2 and the substrate 1 in the pressurized state and ultraviolet rays are radiated to the adhesive layer 3 in this state.
