PURPOSE: To manufacture a titled composite material without deteriorating high tension characteristics of a piano wire by maintaining the piano wire being a reinforced fiber at a specified temperature or below, spraying a matrix metal to this wire, and depositing it as one body.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic frame body 2 is installed in a thermal spraying chamber 1, and a piano wire A is placed in the frame body 2 so that this piano wire A can be cooled by a cooling mechanism 6. The inside of the chamber 1 is filled with a prescribed low pressure inert gas atmosphere by a pressure reducing mechanism 4, a matrix metal B (Al, Ti, etc.) is sprayed to the piano wire A by a thermal spraying device 5 consisting of a thermal spraying metallic powder supply part 5-1, an arc gas supply part 5-2, and a plasma generating power source 5-3, and the piano wire A is maintained at 300°C or below by the cooling mechanism 6. In this way, by depositing as one body the piano wire A and the matrix metal B, a composite material of high tension having light weight, high toughness, corrosion resistance, etc. is obtained.
