PURPOSE: To manufacture a thin plastic molded item at a low cost, which is equipped with excellent insulation and which has a metal plating portion at the surface, by forming a primary molding from a hard-to-plate resin and filling only places requiring plating with an easy-to-plate resin.
CONSTITUTION: From a hard-to-plate resin 22, a primary molding 22 is formed having recesses 24, which are filled with an easy-to-plate resin 26 as a secondary molding, and thus an intermediate product for the resultant molded item is constructed. Because an injection gate 32 furnished at a die 31 for secondary molding is positioned as confronting a detention hole 24b in the molding 22 accommodated in the die 31, the easy-to-plate resin 26 to be infected into the die 31 fills the holes 24b easily and completely, According to this process in which only places requiring plating are filled with the easy-to-plate resin 26, the costs as a whole can be suppressed. Also tight attachment of the molding 22 with the molded part 26 is enhanced,, and drop of the insulation between metal plated parts due to intrusion of the plating liquid can be prevented.
