Title:
MANUFACTURE OF POROUS METAL SINTERED SHEET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0636769
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To control the size, distribution state, and distribution quantity of holes of a dense meshy structure make it thin and uniform by forming a stainless steel fiber sintered sheet with stainless steel fibers, and nickel-plating it.

CONSTITUTION: The slurry containing stainless steel fibers having the fiber diameter of 2-20μm and the fiber length of 1-12mm and binder fibers is formed into a sheet by the wet paper making method. This sheet is sintered in the hydrogen gas atmosphere to manufacture a stainless steel fiber sintered sheet, and nickel plating is applied to the sintered sheet. It is once formed into the sheet by the paper making method then sintered, thus the problem of a short circuit caused by needle-like projections is resolved. The sheet has a dense meshy structure, the size, distribution state, and distribution quantity of holes are controlled, and the uniform and thin porous metal sintered sheet having the same electric resistance and corrosion resistance as those of nickel and capable of being used as an electrode substrate for a battery can be obtained.
