Abstract:

PURPOSE: To maintain the mechanical and physical properties by impregnating CuSO4 aqueous solution in a fiber formed body before placed in a forming die, drying the fiber forming body at the specified temperature, heating it at the specified temperature, and solidifying a molten material with the specified pressure.

CONSTITUTION: In this method for manufacturing the selectively fiber-reinforced parts in which a preliminarily formed body consisting of a ceramic fiber is sealed in Al-Si alloy, the ratio of the ceramic fiber is 5-30 vol.% of the sealed matrix, the fiber formed body is placed in a forming die, a molten material is filled, the molten material is impregnated in the fiber formed body due to the controlled pressure rise, and the final pressure is maintained until the molten material is completely solidified. Before the fiber formed body is placed in the forming die, CuSO4 aqueous solution is impregnated in the fiber formed body, the fiber formed body is dried at 60-90°C, heated at 500-1200°C, and solidified with the final pressure of 10-100 bar. The molten material can be solidified at lower pressure, and the mechanical and physical properties of the fiber reinforced parts solidified under the pressure of ≥1000 bar can not be impaired.
