Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve shock resistance characteristics by giving large curvature to the tip of a projection, formed by etching quartz, by irradiating the projection with a light beam from a carbon dioxide gas laser.
CONSTITUTION: Quartz is worked by etching to form a projection in its +X- axis direction. This projection is irradiated with a light beam from a carbon dioxide gas laser. As a result, the tip part of the projection is fused to round, thereby having large curvature. Thus, shock resistance is improved. Further, little variation in the characteristics of a quartz oscillator is found.
