Abstract:
In this process for producing reformer feed and fuel oil or diesel oil from coal at elevated pressure and elevated temperature by liquid-phase hydrogenation with coupled gas-phase hydrogenation, pulverised coal, if appropriate with the addition of catalytically active substances, is pasted with a pasting oil and first subjected to the liquid-phase hydrogenation and, after removal of a solids-containing residue fraction and, if appropriate, after separating off a fraction serving as pasting oil and after cooling, a product stream is recovered from the exit stream from the liquid-phase hydrogenation, and this is subjected to gas-phase hydrogenation for further processing. For the purpose of lowering the operating pressures required in the gas-phase hydrogenation to about 50-200 bar and reducing the hydrogen consumption, the total hydrogen requirement of the liquid-phase and gas-phase hydrogenations is initially introduced into the gas-phase hydrogenation as fresh hydrogen which is largely free of the interfering components present in a circulating-gas system of the coal hydrogenation, and the exit gas mainly containing unconverted hydrogen is then added to a circulating gas in the liquid-phase hydrogenation.
