PURPOSE: To obtain a blind type ribbon cable by applying a highly viscous solvent containing the same resin component as the insulating coat of a cable along the longitudinal direction of the cable at fixed intervals.

CONSTITUTION: A sponge 14 contains a solvent for dissolving an insulating coat which is the sheath of a cable 13 to fuse the adjacent cables 13 to each other, and when the sponge 14 is raised and made into contact with the cable 13, the solvent W contained in the sponge 14 is applied to the cable 13. As the solvent contained in the sponge 14, a highly viscous fluid having polyvinyl chloride which is the same resin component as the insulating coat of the cable 13 dissolved therein is preferably used. By using such a solvent having a high viscosity, a blind type ribbon cable in which fused parts and non-fused parts are alternately provided can be obtained.
