PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture a rotary transformer whose magnitude of leak magnetic field is small and whose engagement coefficient can be taken larger by uniformly forming a coil on a relative plane of a core in correspondence to a predetermined pattern.
CONSTITUTION: After a base coat 2 is formed by plating a conductive material such as palladium to the entire surface of one surface of a core 1, the base coat 2 is coated with a polyurethane-based resist material 3 by a predetermined spiral pattern. Thereafter, a conductive material of copper is deposited by plating to the remaining plate surface to form a conductive plated layer 4. When the resist material 3 and the base coat 2 are separated and removed by etching, the plated layer 4 and the base coat 2 are stacked on the plate surface of the core 1, and a coil 5 having a predetermined pattern is formed. Therefore, a coil can be formed easily in the form of a thin film by plating in correspondence to a predetermined pattern. As a result, a rotary transformer can be assembled with a gap between opposing surfaces smaller, and an engagement coefficient and electrical characteristics can be improved. A smaller rotary transformer which has high performance can even be contrived.
