To obtain a rubber composite which has an excellent vulcanization moldability and thermal aging resistance and yet is lower priced than an expensive fluororubber by adding an acrylic monomer to an aqueous emulsion of a fluorine-containing elastomer and subjecting the mixture to radical polymerization.
This rubber composite is obtained by adding an acrylic monomer to a water emulsion of a fluorine-containing elastomer produced through emulsion polymerization using a fluoro surfactant and by subjecting the mixture to radical polymerization. Usually approx. 100-500 pts.wt. acrylic monomer is used per 100 pts.wt. fluorine-containing elastomer in the aqueous emulsion. Usually an alkyl acrylate having a 1-8C alkyl group is used as an acrylic monomer. Copolymerization with a monomer containing a crosslinking group in addition to an acrylic monomer is desirable.
