PURPOSE: To allow a sliding member to show shearing strength and to improve the wear resistance by joining a chip made of a specified sintered hard alloy to the body of the sliding member with a base material in-between.
CONSTITUTION: A hard phase made of a carbide such as WC is combined with 20W60vol%, preferably 30W50vol% binder phase made of a metal such as Co, and they are sintered to form a chip 1 made of a sintered hard alloy. The chip 1 is used by ≥5%, preferably ≥8% of the volume of a base material 2, and the chip 1 is joined to the part of the body 3 of a sliding member acting as the sliding surface with the material 2 in-between to obtain the body 3 of a sliding member having the chip 1 at the part acting as the sliding surface to be faced to a cam 4. Thus, a sliding member with improved wear resistance is obtd.
