Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a spark plug with good producibility, which is equipped with a counter outside electrode installed at the end face of a center electrode and lateral outside electrodes opposingly installed at the side faces of the center electrode.
SOLUTION: A cylindrical metal fitting 4 as a main member is formed, and to its ring-shaped front end face 46 a rod-shaped counter outside electrode 5 and two lateral outside electrodes 6 are welded. A threaded part 41 is provided on the metal fitting 4 and is subjected to a plating process after washing. The lateral outside electrodes 6 are bent in L-shape, followed by punching off in the center around the axis, and the length from the lateral outside electrodes 6 to the center electrode 2 is decided. An insulating member 3 to hold the center electrode 2 is installed in the metal fitting 4. Then the counter outside electrode 5 is bent in L-shape, and the length from the counter outside electrode 5 to the center electrode 2 is decided. By this manufacturing method, a spark plug 1 of low discharge type can be yielded with good producibility.
