PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal printer head with limited variance in the resistance value easily eliminating a troublesome polishing of a ceramic substrate by forming a conductor layer and a resistance layer separately on the surface of a glazed layer formed on the surface thereof, after it is polished smooth.

CONSTITUTION: A glazed layer 2 is formed on the surface of a ceramic substrate 1 at a thickness of 50W55μ, for instance, without polishing it. Then, the surface 2A of the glazed layer 2 is polished flat by 10W15μ, for instance. Thereafter, a pair of energizing conductor layers 3 is formed on both sides of the surface 2A and then, a heat generating resistance layer 4 is formed across both the conductor layers 3.

EFFECT: This enables a short period manufacture with a high yield.
