Abstract:
PURPOSE: To manufacture the thin film magnetic head in which a projecting part is formed on the tip exposed surface of a pole part in order to improve a reproducing characteristic by preventing the undershoot of a reproducing output.
CONSTITUTION: 1. On the surface of a ground substrate 10, an indentation 52 for forming a projecting part 36a of a leading pole 36 is formed. 2. Permalloy, etc., are subjected to electric plating onto the part in which a protective layer 12 is formed, and the lower magnetic layer 14 is formed. 3. Covering is executed by a non-magnetic material 56. 4. The lower magnetic layer 14 is formed to prescribed thickness by grinding. 5. A magnetic gap layer 16 is formed, each stage coil layer and an insulating layer are formed thereon, and also, the upper magnetic layer 32 is formed, and in the end, a protective layer 34 is formed. Subsequently, by cutting and grinding to a prescribed position 60, the thin film magnetic head in which the projecting part 36a is formed in the tip part of the leading pole 36 is made.
