Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality welded steel tube by preventing the oxidation of a weld zone in manufacturing the welded steel tube by laser beam welding.
CONSTITUTION: A steel strip 1 which is continuously transferred is formed into a cylindrical shape, edge parts 1a, 1b on both sides of the steel strip are heated with a high-frequency heating device 2 while producing a reducing flame by a conbustion device 5 which is provided on the side of the inside of a open pipe 10 and making the atmosphere of the heating region in the edge parts of the steel strip a reducing atmosphere with this reducing flame, oxidation is prevented and welding is executed by irradiating the abutted part 1c with a laser beam 9.
