PURPOSE: To enable forging of a wheel without exchange of dies by preliminarily forming a stock loaded into a press machine through upsetting, filling up the hollow space of the dies, and piercing a preliminarily formed wheel.
CONSTITUTION: A forging machine 1 is, as a basic structure, constituted of a press machine having an upper tool holder 2 holding an upper die 3. As an opposing tool, a stationary lower die 4 fixed to a lower tool holder 5 is operated. Using this device, a wheel 6d is manufactured through a single working process. Thereupon, the press machine 1 is loaded with a stock or a block 6a. The stock 6a is made into a preliminarily formed work 6b through upsetting. Through a secondary press, hollow space of the dies 3, 4 is successively filled. A preliminarily formed wheel 6c is pierced, and then central through-holes 7, 8, 11, 12 are formed. Successively, the forged wheel 6d is taken out. Thus, a series of new forging workings comprising Loading, upsetting, filling and discharging is started.
