PURPOSE: To permit the reduction of the working manhour in the manufacture of the Al alloy composite by subjecting a mixture of reinforcing material whiskers and Al alloy powder to hot extruding under the conditions in the state where a composite having a compsn. same as that of the above mixture is arranged at the tip face part of a container packed with the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture 5 of reinforcing material whiskers and Al alloy powder is packed into a container 2. A disk-shaped whisker reinforced Al alloy composite 1 having a compsn. same as that of the mixture is arranged at the tip part of the container 2. In the above state, the mixture 5 is subjected to hot extruding by using a cylinder ram 4 from a die 3 under the conditions of 400 to 480°C temp. and 4 to 5t/cm2 bearing pressure. In this way, the whisker reinforced Al alloy composite of high quality can be mass-manufactured at a low cost.
