Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing an aminoalcohol derivative by reducing an amino acid ester compound with sodium borohydride.

The manufacturing method of the aminoalcohol derivative represented by general formula (2) (wherein R2 is a 1-4C alkyl group or an allyl group) comprises reducing an amino acid ester compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1 is a 1-4C alkyl group; and R2 is the same as above) with sodium borohydride in the presence of methanol in a hydrocarbon solvent. Thus, the amino acid ester compound represented by general formula (1) derived from a readily available amino acid compound as a raw material by a method known in the literature is reduced to the corresponding aminoalcohol derivative represented by general formula (2) using sodium borohydride by a simple operation. In the case that the amino acid ester compound represented by general formula (1) is optically active, it can be reduced without causing racemization.
