Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous resin dispersion which forms a coating film excellent in pattern retention property and weather resistance without requiring a neutralization step, and can coat a thick film.SOLUTION: A method for producing an aqueous resin dispersion containing a plurality of layers of emulsion particles in absence of a neutralizer includes performing emulsion polymerization of monomer components in second and subsequent stages while enhancing a pH in a medium using a monomer component with a content of an acid group-containing monomer of 0.3 mass% or less as a monomer component, after emulsion polymerization of the monomer component in the first stage has ended, when the monomer component is subjected to emulsion polymerization in multistage.SELECTED DRAWING: None
