Abstract:
To provide a carbon steel slab containing REM to improve the toughness of a welding heat affected zone by utilizing the inclusions as pinning particles.SOLUTION: The carbon steel slab contains C, Si, Mn, P, Al, t.S, t.Ti, t.O, t.N and contains t.Ca, t.Zr, t.REM within a range satisfying a prescribed formula, and the balance is composed of iron and impurities. REM phosphide is precipitated with ZrS as a precipitation nucleus in the slab. The number density of the REM phosphide having a circle equivalent diameter of 0.05 μm or more and 1.0 μm or less is 200/mmor more, and the number density of the inclusions having a circle equivalent diameter exceeding 10 μm is less than 5/mm.SELECTED DRAWING: None
