Ribs 1e, 1f are formed at the edge in the longitudinal direction of a sheet member 1 by press work when forming a sack-shaped container 2 housing an electrode member 8 by applying plastic work and folding work to the sheet member 1. As the sheet member is restrained from deformation and a flat part is secured by forming the ribs 1e, 1f when forming a concave 1a for housing the electrode member 8, suction conveyance using the suction pad 4, and the bending work can be carried out in a favorable state afterward, and the secondary cell having high quality is manufactured with high efficiency.
