To provide a manufacturing method for a forging steel ingot particularly suitable to be used by being forged, by providing satisfactory uniform and fine structure mitigated with a casting defect.
In the manufacturing method for the forging ingot to be used after forging, a molten steel 1 is dropped in droplets 2, and sedimented/solidified in a semi-solidified condition in a mold 6 to form the steel ingot. The mold 6 is preferably applied with, e.g. a cooling mechanism 9 in order to make the cooling speed fast after the sedimentation. The distance between a nozzle exit and the mold is preferably controlled optimally by, e.g. installing a lift device 11 to the mold 6 so that the liquid accumulation of the molten steel is not formed in the droplet sedimentation part 10 in the mold 6.
