In the manufacturing method for a gas sensor element that is the laminate of solid electrolyte sheets 112 and 132 becoming solid electrolytes 112 and 132 after baking and the substrate sheet 123 becoming a substrate 123 after baking, in the sheet manufacturing process, 1-20 mass% of organic matter with a melting point of 40-80°C is added to the substrate sheet 123 based on insulating ceramic.
