Abstract:

To effectively prevent the formation of an SiO2-deficient layer at the time of decarburizing annealing and to provide a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet excellent in film formation and having superior electromagnetic properties.

A slab of silicon-containing steel is hot-rolled and then cold- rolled once or cold-rolled two or more times, while process-annealed between cold rolling steps, to final sheet thickness, and the resultant steel sheet is subjected to electrolytic degreasing treatment, decarburizing annealing and finish annealing. In the above method for manufacturing the grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, when the decarburizing annealing is applied after the electrolytic degreasing treatment, the formation rate of SiO2in oxides formed in the surface layer at the surface of the steel sheet after the decarburizing annealing is made to ≤70%.
