Abstract:
To provide a manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display element using a polymer network-liquid crystal composite material, having excellent quick response by improving a fall time of a liquid crystal and capable of substantially reducing a drive voltage of the liquid crystal to a so-called PSA liquid display element.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display element comprises: a step 1 of clamping a polymerizable liquid crystalline mixture between two transparent substrates having an electrode at least at one of them, the polymerizable liquid crystalline mixture including a liquid crystal composition containing one type or more liquid crystal compounds, and one type or more polymerizable compounds as essential components, where a content of the polymerizable compounds to a total mass of the liquid crystal compositions and the polymerizable compounds is equal to or more than 1 mass% and less than 40 mass%; a step 2 of subsequently heating them; and a step 3 of applying an active energy ray thereto after that to form a polymer network formed by connecting the substrates in the liquid crystal phase.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
