Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for providing optical active alcohol capable of being a perfume material or a cold sensation raw material with high optical purity and high selectivity by conducting an asymmetric carbonyl-en ring closure reaction in the same molecule and a method for providing optical active alcohol where a carbon-carbon double bond of the optical active alcohol is hydrogenated.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for providing optical active alcohol by an asymmetric ring closure reaction of an achiral aldehyde compound having a formyl group and a carbon-carbon double bond capable of conducting an asymmetric carbonyl-en ring closure reaction in the same molecule in a presence of a specific asymmetric aluminum catalyst as exemplified in the following reaction formula.SELECTED DRAWING: None
