The manufacturing method is for the organic EL element which comprises a negative electrode, a positive electrode, and an organic light-emitting layer positioned between the negative electrode and positive electrode. The method is characterized by a process for forming the organic light-emitting layer of preparing a substrate provided with a plurality of partition walls and positive electrodes arranged oppositely one another nearly in parallel, using the letterpress printing plate provided with a plurality of protrusions provided opposing one another nearly in parallel corresponding to recesses between the partition walls, and continuously supplying organic light-emitting ink containing organic light-emitting material and a solvent to the recesses along a longitudinal direction of the partition walls.
