Abstract:

To provide a manufacturing method of a polyketone realizing enhanced catalytic activities and increased intrinsic viscosity that comprises using an organometallic complex comprised of palladium acetate and 1,3-bis[bis(2-methoxy-5-methylphenyl)phosphino]propane as a catalyst component and a mixed solvent composed of 70-90 vol% of acetic acid and 10-30 vol% of water as a liquid medium.

The manufacturing method comprises copolymerizing carbon monoxide with an ethylenically unsaturated compound in the presence of a catalyst in the liquid medium, where the catalyst is an organometallic complex comprised of (a) a group 9, 10 or 11 transition metal compound and (b) a ligand having a group 15 element and the component (b) is 1,3-bis[bis(2-methoxy-5-methylphenyl)phosphino]propane.
