Abstract:
To provide a manufacturing method of a thermoplastic matrix resin fused carbon fiber tape that is less in the process contamination, can be continuously produced, furthermore, has high quality by suppressing occurrence of fluff.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a thermoplastic matrix resin fused carbon fiber tape, which makes continually pass, with a coating weight of a sizing agent holding at 0.05 mass% or lower, a polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber tape 1c, the process of coating an aqueous dispersion of the thermoplastic matrix resin, drying and subsequently heating at a melting point of the thermoplastic matrix resin or higher, in which the coating step contains, with a contact with a roller having an angle of a contact angle π/3 or larger and a contact length of 10 mm or longer as a contact 1 unit, both of a front surface and a back surface of the carbon fiber tape contain a contact with the roller of at least contact unit 1, the process tension from the coating step to the fusing step is 15 to 60 mN/tex.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
