Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled sliding member free from wrinkles and gaps on the low frictional sliding surface layer, by filling a chip substrate preform in a mold containing a core metal wrapped with a resin-impregnated sheet material, and compression molding the preform.

CONSTITUTION: A resin-coated sheet material having low frictional coefficient is manufactured by impregnating a mixed fabric of tetrafluoroethylene fiber and other fiber (e.g. cotton cloth) with a varnish (e.g. thermosetting resin varnish). The sheet material is cut to about the length of the inner hole of the sliding member to be manufactured, and wrapped around the core metal of the mold. The mold is then filled with a preform obtained by forming a chip substrate (e.g. cotton filament, etc.) impregnated with a thermosetting synthetic resin. The content is heated, and at the same time, pressed with a pressing mold along the axial direction of the core metal, to obtain an integrally compression molded resin-impregnated sheet material and chip substrate.
