Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the extension of a ROM or RAM in the control circuit of a map display device to the utmost when integrating the browsing software of general information into the map display device.
SOLUTION: In this map display device, one part of plural picture data storage area, e.g. four picture data storage areas to be used for a map information control means (program for map control) are shared by an information browsing control means (program for information browsing). Thus, the extension of the RAM to be used as the picture data storage area can be considerably reduced. Further, character font data and a partial program for keying processing are shared by the program for map control and the program for information browsing so that the extension of the ROM can be suppressed to the utmost.
