PURPOSE: To obtain a marking machine light in weight, simple in structure and easy in type selection work by providing type wheels, to the side faces of which are fixed type wheel gears having the number of teeth corresponding to type intervals and which are coaxially mounted in a rotatable manner, intermediate gears, each of which is meshed with each type wheel gear and which are coaxially mounted in a rotatable manner, a positioning member which is elastically meshed with the intermediate gears, and a type selection gear which can be selectively meshed with the intermediate gears.

CONSTITUTION: Type wheels 30 are mounted on a movable frame 20, respectively, in an independently rotatable manner. Recessed and protruding parts 31a, 31b are formed on the outer circumferential surface of each type wheel 30 at equal intervals, and types are formed on the protruding parts 31b. Further, a type wheel gear 32 is fixed to the side face of each type wheel 30. Intermediate gears 40 are mounted to a support shaft 41, respectively, in an independently rotatable manner, and are meshed with the type wheel gear 32, respectively. A positioning bar 46 is elastically meshed with each intermediate gear 40. A type selection gear 50 slides integrally with a support shaft 51 in an axial direction and can be meshed with one of the intermediate gears 40 arbitrarily.
