Title:
MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL FOR PIPE FOR OIL WELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60174859
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a martensitic stainless steel for a pipe for an oil well having superior resistance to corrosion and stress corrosion cracking by adding specified amounts of C, Si, Mn, S, Cr, Ni and Mo to Fe.

CONSTITUTION: The composition of a martensitic stainless steel for a pipe for an oil well is composed of, by weight, <0.02% C, <0.5% Si, 0.5W1.5% Mn, <0.005% S, 12W15% Cr, 3.5W6% Ni, 0.5W3% Mo and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The steel is formed into a seamless pipe or an electric welded pipe in conventional manufacturing stages, and the pipe is heated to 900W 1,100°C, cooled by water or air cooling, and tempered at 600W800°C to obtain a pipe for an oil well.
