PURPOSE: To provide a masking agent for an alcoholic irritating smell, excellent in actions on suppression of the alcoholic irritating smell and useful as a perfume composition, a cosmetic and food and drink.

CONSTITUTION: This masking agent for an alcoholic irritating smell comprises star anise seed oil, anise oil, fennel oil, caraway oil, spearmint oil, KUROMOJI (Lindera umbellata Thunb.) oil, pennyroyal oil, lemon oil, camphor oil and Aurantii Pericarpium (Citrus aurantium subsp. amara) oil. Furthermore, a perfume composition and a cosmetic contain the masking agent for the alcoholic irritating smell in an amount of 0.1-20wt.% based on the alcohol therein and food and drink contain 0.1-20000ppm masking agent for the alcoholic irritating smell.
